Reno, NV — Sunday morning, in the quiet coffee shop Cortado, patrons waiting for their daily cup reported that a man wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat entered the store and began speaking loudly and looking around to see if anyone was watching him. “He started telling the cashier, basically shouting, about his work history for some reason,” fellow customer Brenda Carlyle, 40, told local news outlets, “Then he said he knew the owner of a brewery in Missouri and started talking about Missouri. I thought he was trying to get a job, but he wasn’t. He didn’t seem to have any message. He was just annoying and wearing that dumb hat.” ‘Make America Great Again’ or ‘MAGA’ is a slogan created by President Donald Trump’s campaign that is proudly worn by republicans and alt-right extremists whose beliefs are deeply rooted in hate, racism and sexism. “It was clear he was trying to get everyone’s attention so that someone would start a fight with him about the hat,” reported an employee of Cortado who requested to remain anonymous, “Nobody really looked at him, so he seemed deflated. He kept asking me loud, pointless questions about the area, but I just kind of stopped listening after a while because I had work to do. He bought a small coffee, which always means the customer is just killing time. Then he left.” Members of the community say they don’t normally see MAGA hats in the area, but when they do, they just kind of ignore them until they disappear.
