CHICAGO, IL — Family and friends of Isabella Luna de’ Medici knew the 35-year-old Chicago real estate agent was alive and well the moment she woke up from a six-week coma because she immediately started telling everyone about her Italian heritage. “She started talking about how she likes to talk because she’s Italian, and she likes food because she’s Italian,” Matt, her friend and coworker, told local news outlets, “It was as annoying as it was before she went into the coma, so I was relieved.” De’ Medici became comatose after watching two full seasons of The Sopranos, a critically acclaimed HBO series focusing on Italian Americans, in one sitting. “She looked at me and said people who aren’t Italian don’t understand The Sopranos like her family, and I started crying because I knew our Isabella was back,” Matt continued. Her doctors say that she will stay at the hospital to be monitored for one more night, but she will be discharged early if she gets more annoying or pushy than she’s been in the last few hours. Family members of de’ Medici reportedly brought wine into the hospital, a substance that is normally banned, but they are drinking it in a normal enough way that hospital staff doesn’t have a problem with it.
