CHICAGO, IL — Anna Jones, 25, became inspired when she saw a popular TikTok video showing a woman in New York finding a hidden apartment behind her bathroom mirror, and she decided to go searching. “I found something truly remarkable,” Jones wrote in the video’s caption when she posted her discovery on TikTok to middling praise, “Look at this.” The ‘this’ to which Jones was referring turned out to be roughly $100 worth of damage that she created by removing her bathroom mirror from its fixed position on the wall. Jones rents her studio apartment in Lakeview, and a blueprint of the building shows that her bathroom mirror could not possibly connect to anything other than her bedroom. Jones thankfully stopped before reaching her bedroom, but still managed to make a mess of her bathroom wall. “I didn’t expect this,” Jones said in her video after dropping and shattering her mirror on the floor. Jones reportedly pulled on the mirror until it came off the wall, bringing a mirror-sized rectangle of drywall with it. Sources close to Jones have reported that she was probably drunk. The owner of her apartment building has sent her a bill for the damage along with a reminder to pay this month’s rent.
