CHINA — A tourist visiting a 100m-high glass bridge in Piyan Mountain was left dangling from its guard rail after its glass panels were damaged in high wind. “The moment I was dangling up there, I felt truly free for the first time in my life,” the man who requested to remain anonymous told reporters outside of the hospital after he was discharged in stable emotional and physical condition, “All of my insecurities and mental blocks fell away with that bridge and the only thing left remaining was my true self. I wish everyone could feel this way.” Doctors reported that the man had an aura around him and was the most ‘truly free’ person they had ever seen. The area has been closed, according to Longjing City’s Weibo page, and an investigation into the incident has been launched. The man was able to get to safety with help from on-site staff, but the staff reported that he was initially apprehensive about leaving. “He was laughing and telling us to leave him there,” Zhang Min, 28, a member of the bridge’s on-site staff told local news outlets, “Which was weird because most people want to leave even when the bridge isn’t raining massive chunks of shattered glass onto the forest below it.” Sources close to the man report that he plans to return to the bridge to “finish the job” within the next few hours. Whether he means to assist in cleaning up and repairing the bridge or to put himself in some sort of high-risk situation again will hopefully be revealed by the end of today.
