UNITED STATES — Any new social networking app requires a lot of attention and as many celebrities using it as possible in order to be successful in the current dystopian hellscape that mobile interaction has become. “I host a podcast,” David Larson, 28, self-described podcast host, told us in a Zoom call, “so I use Stereo to do live shows where the audience can interact with us while we’re talking. Up until now, it has only served as an avenue for strangers to send fart noises to me and my girlfriend.” Stereo is used to live-stream audio (conversations or really anything) while the listening audience has the ability to send the hosts audio messages that they can play during the live stream. The app has been gaining a steady following as more people get dragged into its algorithm to take part in increasingly sad attempts to stay in touch with new trends. Diane Murphy, 43, mother of two girls in New Hampshire told us, “I don’t know what it is, but my daughter said it’s just people saying the n-word and farting. It sounds like that Among Us game all over again. I downloaded it, though. I’m eager to see what it’s about.” Actor Matthew McConaughey, old, currently has over one million followers on the app and he does not let listeners contribute audio. Instead, he has been speaking uninterrupted for 73 hours without farting even once. Stereo is free to download in the app store.
