UNITED STATES — Pixar recently released a teaser for its highly anticipated animated feature Turning Red, which is set to star Rosalie Chiang as Mei Lee and Sandra Oh as Mei’s mother Ming, but early reports indicate that the teaser may be misleading. “So, all the red panda stuff in the teaser only lasts like five minutes,” Mark Donnelly, 40, a movie critic allowed to watch an early screener of the film tweeted in a spoiler reveal that momentarily shook the internet, “and then the rest of the movie is just a hard, almost documentary level, look at American history leading up to the January 6th insurrection attempt. I was not expecting that.” Although little else is known about the animated children’s feature, the trailer gives the impression that it’s a coming-of-age fantasy comedy about a girl who turns into a red panda when she gets embarrassed. Disney has confirmed, however, that the red panda stuff only lasts a little while and then the movie primarily focuses on Donald Trump’s rise to power and all the most dangerous areas of American culture that have gained mainstream popularity in the last few decades. “It’s good though. Lots of interesting insight on MAGA stuff. It’s worth seeing for sure, just don’t go in expecting to see a cute little girl turn into a red panda because it’s mostly harsh documentary footage. Not really for kids.” Turning Red is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on March 11, 2022.
