US Voters: “Honesty is Scary, and We Actually Just Want to Be Lied to Again”
UNITED STATES — After President Joe Biden’s first week in office, US citizens are reporting that his straightforward and honest delivery of facts about COVID-19 and other global issues is actually pretty scary. “He told us that more people would die of COVID-19,” Julie Andrews, 40, a US voter wrote in a Facebook status, “And that might be true, but Jesus man, the last guy would have just told us it was all good and then eaten lunch. You can’t even lie a little bit?” Biden has been widely praised for taking an antithetical stance on the dissemination of information compared to his most recent political opponent Former President Donald Trump. The Biden administration has publicly announced that things take time to change and that we have to be patient with one another while experts do their work. Though this change in the United States’ political attitude has been enthusiastically welcomed by the rest of the world, citizens at home are beginning to miss the days when Trump would just kind of tell them whatever they wanted to hear to get them off his back. “Honesty is scary, and we actually just want to be lied to again,” Andrews continued in her Facebook post, “Trump would have said that nobody has ever died from COVID-19 before, and even though he was lying, I felt better. Doesn’t that count for anything, Mr. President?” Andrews was reportedly ‘lit up’ in the comments section of her post and has since deleted her Facebook profile.
